I really liked all of the Israeli/Middle Eastern sounding music in this episode. I also loved hearing Destination Calabra during the parade.

“Forgiveness Hymn” - Yoel Ben-Simhon
Ben-Simhon is an Israeli-born of Moroccan parentage, making him a personification of Judeo-Arab coexistence in and of himself. The song is based on the hymn 'El Nora Alila' (by early 12th century Sephardic poet Moshe Ibn Ezra) and performed Moroccan style, merging Jewish and Arabic traditions together.
Knowing this makes it all the more special given the context of the episode. Great find!

truly beautiful. thanks for the info drake, and thank you Avalon, as always you and PJ hit the bullseye.
here's the lyric to "Forgiveness Hymn".
Forgiveness Hymns
Composed & Arranged by Yoel Ben-Simhon
Lyrics by Yoel Ben-Simhon
Except traditional Moroccan hymn
I dream back
To distant childhood memories
At the synagogue in Kiryat-Gat
Atonement day; shimmering hymns
Grandpa Mimon goes to pray
Grandma Sultana at the kerosene stove
Toils over the last meal before the fast
With a melody wrapped in holy scents
Soulful chants fill the sanctuary
The glorious scrolls infused with incense and snuff
On this day of forgiveness
There is no respite from its endlessness
Wishing the minutes away
Insufferable tension, awaiting
To sing out loud the soul-saving hymn
Moroccan Hymn: Oh God who is majestic, oh God who is majestic,
Grant us forgiveness at the time of the closing
hour

Thanks Sookie for the lyrics. They are indeed beautiful, and that makes this song a very good fit for this episode and the scene in which it was used, thanks to PJ Bloom and Company.

I feel represented completely by the music of this episode.
I WANT TO THANK PJBLOOM for such wonderful music.
"El Nora Alila" is beautiful song and the phrase is also used as a prayer on the temple on the high holidays, just before the night is taking over the world. That is why it is used as the name of the song:the author is refering to that precious hour when, after a whole day of prayers asking for forgiveness, you are standing there all free of guilt, clean, waiting for the shofar to sound and for the day to wrap up. It is a wonderful prayer. I love that you chose this song, it is very representative of the state of total forgiveness.
The song "“La Serena” by Azam Ali is also written in old Spanish,Arameo, used by sepharadic Jews (Jews that come from Spain). The most amazing thing for me is that a few weeks ago I bummped into this musician on a TV special and I was completely taken by her voice and singing... I am stunned that you used one of her songs for the show! we have the same taste and are tunning in pretty well!
These are the Lyrics:
"Si la mar era de leche
Yo me haria un pexcador
Pexcaria las mis dolores
Con palavricas de amor
Pexcaria las mis dolores
Con palavricas de amor
Dame tu mano palomba
Para suvir a tu nido
Maldicha que durmes sola
Vengo a durmir contigo
Maldicha que durmes sola
Vengo a durmir contigo
Translation :
(If the sea was milk
I would be a fisherman
I would fish for my sorrows
With words of love.
I would fish for my sorrow
With words of love.
Give me your hand my dove
To come up to your nest
Unlucky are you that sleep alone
I am coming to sleep with you
Unlucky are you that sleep alone
I am coming to sleep with you) "
Oh PJBOOM! it is very cool of you to have chosen those wonderful pieces! Thank you very much.
words are not enough.

hahaha...its funny to hear Israeli song on my favorite TV show ..
and its song that we sing on some holiday name " yom kipur " in English "the forgiven day" and the song call "El Nora Alila"
the Jewish tradition say that in this holiday which is just one day holiday we are not allowed to eat , drink and use electronic things for 24 hours because we need to be like suffering so god can forgive and clean our souls from all the sins we did so at the end of this 24 hours we sing "El Nora Alila" and eat drink
