So that we wouldn't continue to trash the Running w Scissors
thread with it, here's a special thread for discussing the episode Naomi Gaines!
I'll start us up with what I wrote in there!

I think I appreciated Naomi Gaines on a very
unsophisticated level. It was nice seeing Christian
so smart-mouthed and in control, solving the Bobbi Broderick
problem more or less with sex. It was also nice to see
Bobbi get chewed out by Naomi, "a real victim".
And I loved how delightfully twisted and cruel Ava was
to everyone, even to Adrian.. I'm sorry, I don't really
consider myself a bad person, but I love it!  Embarrassed

Jill Claysburgh as Broderick in the previous episode, wasnt that good, the storyline had been done before with Grubman, but seeing her shot down in flames by Gaines was a fantastic scene, as was her emotinal confession later on!

Gaines was a great way to introduce the Carver too!

Yes, I agree, I didn't like the idea of yet another pathetic,
troublesome, middle-aged woman and Bobbi was annoying too. Tongue

Loving, about your question about whether Naomi could tell the Carver
was a man, I think that was just based on the fact that he raped
her and he looked big enough to be a man.. I got the idea at this
point they hadn't planned on making the Carver such a big deal.

Liss, exactly, The Carver was only introduced as a newspaper article! Who'd have thought then the storyline could get so big as it is now!?  Wink

Yeah, It did seem like in the beginning the carver was kind of an
afterthought, something to explain Naomi's injuries and for her to
give the what for to Bobbi Broderick. I loved that by the way!
It was so satisfying to see the look on the woman's face--so
crestfallen. Someone had to set her straight about what a real victim was.
        Did I mention that already?

It looks like he started out that way...But I think Murphy's more on the
ball now. Well, you'll see for yourself when you watch Season 3. Then
we can really talk in detail! Soon for you!
It's a little hard for me to remember Naomi' episode--I do remember cheering
when that Bobbi Broderick was taken down a peg. Also, Christian bedding
the journalist for positive publicity was funny.

Naomi Gaines was a good episode, although Bobbi was one of those characters that you just wanted to punch.

Oh yeah, I wanted to strangle her! I think all of the mess could have been avoided
if she had just read over the instructions Sean gave her properly, instead of being
just so gun ho to have surgery. Then she would have known about risks, side effects,
recovery time and all of that. She had absolutely no common sense!
None of that is a doctor's fault! Smiley

I just re-watched this episode again. Did you know Ryan Murphy did
NOT write this episode? It was explained that Naiomi was the 3rd
Carver victim in a month. NOT the first, like Murphy wanted  us
to belive in the Season 3 finale.

Costa had said something like he "wanted to make a statement" to
Sean and Christian with Naiomi. But Naiomi was the first victim of the
        Carver's M/T had operated on.

       It made absoultely no sense.

Do your reasearch first R. M.!

Looking back now, it is easy to see why he didn't get the details correct. He didn't
write the epi, and Murphy didn't bother to check his work for accurate details.

Okay in the deleted scenes on DVD, there were a couple of interesting scenes
dealing with Liz trying to get pregnant.

One was Liz at the clinic. I have to say eww! Just awful.

But the other one was off color and sweet at the same time. There is a scene
of Liz and Christian in his bedroom. She tells him "I want to tell my baby his
father was present at the time of conception."

and you think they are going to have sex, but no...

It's actually kind of wierd. But Liz had said in the clinic how she wanted to feel she was
"creating a life--not being invaded by one"

And then you have the scene with her and Christian. Lots of innuendos and a turkey baster.

It is interesting wacting the series in reverse.
Like when the Carver teaches Shaun a lesson and Quinton shows up five minutes later, it was just funnily cheesy they were both introduced connectively around the attack.

I think I've mentioned this before but... well, I don't care  Wink
The newspaper article. If you pause and read it, there's lots of interesting things about The Carver that didn't later come into play. For example, it says that one of the victims was robbed. I guess the whole Carver thing wasn't perfected at that point...

Can say that again..  Roll Eyes But then, was it ever perfected?  Roll Eyes
Cool, I didn't know you could read the article. I'll have to try that sometime.
How funny and unsophisticated if Quentin had gone around stealing
people's necklaces and stereos when he made those unexpected house calls!  Grin
And how pathetic!  Cheesy

Yeah really! Another example of how Murphy didn't do his homework
with the carver story (he only wrote the one at the end!) and then
just threw together shit hoping none of the viewers would notice! Roll Eyes

For example, did you notice that the paralyzing drug seemed to become
"all important." Yet when Naomi Gaines was raped, she didn't mention
it. And we saw when the carver attacked the girl from Matt's school, he tied
her arms up. She was not given the drugs either.

It was only when the guy model was raped that he mentioned the drug.

I agree the "Carver" appearance, and then Quinten showing up, It was
            so cheesy!
